IRVING, Texas – Annabelle Corcoran, a student-athlete on the SMU women’s swimming and diving team, has been selected as the 2023 recipient of the American Athletic Conference Community Impact Award as chosen by members of the conference’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The award recognizes a student-athlete who has made an impact in either the surrounding or campus community through service work. One student-athlete or group from each American member is eligible for nomination each academic year. The award includes a donation from The American in Corcoran’s name to the life skills program at SMU.
A native of Port Washington, N.Y., served as SMU’s SAAC president for 2023-23. She helped organize the first SMU Athletics Fire Truck Pull, which raised over $21,000 for pediatric cancer research and brought more than 500 members of the Dallas and SMU community together Corcoran also spearheaded a holiday gear drive to provided clothes for women and children. Additionally, she led four events throughout Powerful Minds week to promote mental health education, awareness, importance and wellness for student-athletes.

Wisdom Quashire, football, Temple – co-founded Black Student-Athlete Association at Temple
Nick Anderson, football, Tulane – worked most notably with ‘Son of a Saint’ non-profit organization
