East Carolina, SMU Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the second week of the season.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Eliana Salama, So., F, SMU
Salama scored the game-winning goal for the Mustangs in their home-opening 2-1 victory over No. 25 Tennessee on Sunday night. Salama’s goal came in the 84th minute and it was SMU’s first ranked home win since shutting out No. 21 Texas on Nov. 14, 2021.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Mayu Inokawa, Jr., M, SMU
Inokawa aided the Mustang defense to holding No. 25 Tennessee to only six shots on goal in the first half, while shutting down the Volunteer offense and not allowing a shot on goal in the second half.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Maeve English, Sr., East Carolina
English posted two clean sheets in a pair of Pirate wins last week. She made three saves against Campbell in a 1-0 victory on Sunday after recording two saves in a 3-0 triumph over George Mason on Thursday.
 
Rookie of the Week
Lucy Fazackerley, D, East Carolina
Fazackerley aided the Pirate defense to two shutout victories and also scored the game-winning goal against Campbell on Sunday.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Carlyn Presley, Jr., M, UAB
Presley scored two goals, including the game-winning tally, against Jacksonville State on Thursday.
 
Payton Patrick, Jr., F, Charlotte
Patrick recorded a pair of game-winning goals at Coastal Carolina on Thursday and The Citadel on Sunday.
 
Jenna Sheely, Sr., M, North Texas
Sheely tallied goals in victories over Texas State and Texas A&M – Commerce as the Mean Green improved to 4-0-0 on the season.
 
Ellen Halseth, Gr., F, Rice
Halseth scored two goals and provided two assists over two victories for the Owls, including the game-winning goal against Texas Southern.
 
Sam Estrada, Gr., GK, SMU
Estrada recorded five saves in the Mustangs’ win over No. 25 Tennessee on Sunday.
