PHILADELPHIA — The Palm Beach County Sports Commission today announced its watch list for the 2023 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award. Temple graduate Camden Price is one of 30 players to make the initial list.
Price made the best of his first year as a starter for Temple in 2022, joining the Owls as a graduate transfer from Miami (Fla.). He went 13-14 (92.9%) in field goals and 18-19 (94.7%) in extra points across eight games played last season. Price began his Temple career on a strong note in his first start against Memphis, drilling a 47-yard field goal. He later hit a career-long 49-yard field goal against UCF, which was tied for the longest kick by any AAC player at that point in the season. Price tallied 18 points and four field goals against USF, the most in a game by a Temple kicker since Brandon McManus did so in 2010.
Of all kickers in the Football Bowl Subdivision with at least 10 field goal attempts, Price ranked sixth in accuracy. His nine field goals from 30 yards or longer tied Price for fourth most by any kicker who finished with a 90% or higher accuracy.
The award is named after National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza. He played 21 seasons in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns, converting 264 field goals during his career.
The 32
nd annual Lou Groza Place-Kicker Award will be presented by the Orange Bowl in Palm Beach County, where three finalists will be recognized. The winner will be announced at a gala awards banquet in West Palm Beach, Florida Dec. 4.
