North Texas, Rice and SMU all improved to 3-0 to begin American Athletic Conference play.  Rice and SMU both won by road sweeps, with the Owls defeating Tulsa and the Mustangs defeating UTSA.  North Texas took down Tulane in New Orleans 3-1. Other wins around the league include Memphis over South Florida (3-1), Florida Atlantic beating Temple (3-1) and East Carolina winning a five-set thriller over UAB (3-2). 

Through the opening weeking, North Texas, Rice and SMU are the lone unbeatens in conference play.
