North Texas Wins Thriller While UAB, Tulsa Take Wednesday Wins

North Texas improved to 4-0 play, while Tulsa and UAB also picked up American Athletic Conference men's basketball wins on Wednesday, January 17.

North Texas 60, East Carolina 59 - Box Score
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) Jason Edwards led North Texas with 20 points and Robert Allen hit the game-winning layup with one second remaining as the Mean Green defeated East Carolina 60-59 on Wednesday night.

Allen took a full court pass from Aaron Scott and banked in the go-ahead layup with 1.3 seconds remaining. Brandon Johnson's half court try was off the mark as time ran out on East Carolina.

Edwards was 7 of 17 shooting, including 1 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 7 from the line for the Mean Green (11-5, 4-0 American Athletic Conference). Scott added 12 points while shooting 4 for 14, including 2 for 7 from beyond the arc, and they also had five rebounds. C.J. Noland shot 5 for 14, including 1 for 5 from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points. The Mean Green picked up their sixth straight victory.

The Pirates (9-9, 2-3) were led by RJ Felton, who finished with 16 points, six rebounds and two steals. Cam Hayes added 12 points and two steals for East Carolina. Brandon Johnson finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

North Texas went into the half ahead of East Carolina 30-26. Edwards scored 10 points in the half. Edwards scored 10 second-half points for North Texas.

Tulsa 107, UTSA 78 - Box Score
TULSA, Okla. (AP) PJ Haggerty had 25 points in Tulsa's 107-78 win over UTSA on Wednesday night.

Haggerty also added six rebounds and seven assists for the Golden Hurricane (10-7, 1-4 American Athletic Conference). Cobe Williams added 17 points while going 5 of 10 from the floor, including 2 for 6 from 3-point range, and 5 for 5 from the line, and he also had eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Tyshawn Archie, Isaiah Barnes and Cobe Williams finished with 17 points apiece.

Jordan Ivy-Curry led the Roadrunners (7-11, 1-4) in scoring, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds. Christian Tucker added 12 points and eight assists for UTSA. Trey Edmonds also recorded 10 points and six rebounds.

Tulsa took the lead with 2:00 remaining in the first half and never looked back. Haggerty led Tulsa with 16 points in the first half to help put build a 53-48 halftime advantage. Tulsa extended its lead to 69-50 during the second half, fueled by a 16-2 scoring run. Haggerty scored a team-high nine points in the second half.

UAB 83, Tulane 69 - Box Score
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Alejandro Vasquez had 28 points in UAB's 83-69 victory over Tulane on Wednesday night.

Vasquez had six rebounds for the Blazers (11-6, 3-1 American Athletic Conference). Efrem Johnson scored 15 points and added six assists. Christian Coleman was 6 of 9 shooting and 1 of 4 from the free throw line to finish with 13 points.

Kevin Cross led the way for the Green Wave (11-6, 2-3) with 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Sion James added 13 points and two steals for Tulane. Collin Holloway also had 13 points and two blocks.
