Charlotte, North Texas and UTSA all picked up American Athletic Conference men's basketball wins on Saturday, January 6.

North Texas 70, Tulane 56 - Box Score
DENTON, Texas (AP) Jason Edwards' 37 points led North Texas over Tulane 70-56 on Saturday.

Edwards was 10 of 15 shooting, including 8 for 10 from 3-point range, and went 9 for 11 from the line for the Mean Green (9-5, 2-0 American Athletic Conference). C.J. Noland scored 14 points, shooting 4 for 13 (1 for 4 from 3-point range) and 5 of 8 from the free throw line. Aaron Scott scored 10 points and had 12 rebounds.

The Green Wave (10-4, 1-1) were led in scoring by Collin Holloway, who finished with 17 points. Tulane also got 10 points and two steals from Sion James. Kevin Cross also had nine points.

HOUSTON (AP) Carlton Linguard scored 24 points as UTSA beat Rice 89-82 in overtime on Saturday night.

The game was played at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center on the campus of St. Thomas because of water damage at Tudor Fieldhouse, Rice's homecourt. Only 1,424 were able to see the game at the smaller gym. Tudor Fieldhouse has a capacity of 5,208.

Linguard shot 8 for 13 (4 for 8 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line for the Roadrunners (7-8, 1-1 American Athletic Conference). Dre Fuller Jr. scored 23 points while going 8 of 17 (5 for 9 from 3-point range), and added three steals. Jordan Ivy-Curry had 15 points and was 3 of 9 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 8 for 9 from the line, including two with three seconds left in regulation to force the overtime tied at 77..

Travis Evee finished with 25 points for the Owls (6-9, 0-2). Mekhi Mason added 22 points and three steals for Rice. In addition, Noah Shelby finished with 12 points.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Lu'Cye Patterson scored 16 points and sealed the victory with a free throw with two seconds left as Charlotte defeated No. 17 Florida Atlantic 70-68 on Saturday night.

Patterson shot 6 for 13 (1 for 4 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free throw line for the 49ers (7-7, 1-1 American Athletic Conference). Igor Milicic Jr. scored 13 points while shooting 4 for 9 (0 for 5 from 3-point range) and 5 of 5 from the free throw line, and added five rebounds. Nik Graves shot 2 for 7 (2 for 4 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line to finish with 10 points.

Johnell Davis finished with 20 points for the Owls (11-4, 1-1). Florida Atlantic also got 19 points from Nicholas Boyd. In addition, Alijah Martin had eight points.
