EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - Temple's bid for the go-ahead touchdown with three seconds left was denied by the UConn defense, allowing Jordan Wright to race 96 yards for a touchdown as time expired as the Huskies stunned the Owls 29-20 at Pratt and Whitney Stadium.
Trailing by three points, Temple had two plays inside the UConn 1-yard line in the final 46 seconds. Antwain Littleton's dive up the middle was denied by the UConn line on third down, and after the Owls called timeout with three seconds left, the Huskies stuffed the line on fourth down, disrupting the exchange from center and leaving the ball free for Wright's long return.
The sequence capped a wild fourth quarter that produced three lead changes, the last of which coming on Durell Robinson's 1-yard plunge that gave UConn the 23-20 lead with 4;03 left.
Temple quarterback Forrest Brock completed 18 of 31 passes for 136 yards and was intercepted once. Terrez Worthy rushed for 95 yards on 12 carries for the Owls, who finished with 270 total yards.
Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo hit a 60-yard field goal early in the third quarter, becoming the only player in the nation to hit two field goals of at least 60 yards this season.
UConn improved to 4-2 with the win, while Temple fell to 1-5.
