IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending February 11.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maddie Epke • So. • James Madison • Guilford, Conn.
Epke led all scorers with eight points - seven goals and an assist - to spark James Madison to a 19-18 overtime win against No. 3 North Carolina in the Dukes’ season-opener. Epke figured in four consecutive fourth-quarter goals, assisting on one and scoring three straight, to turn a 15-14 deficit to an 18-15 lead. She added a game-high 10 draw controls, including the draw to begin overtime to set up the game-winning goal.

Marchetti scored three goals on three shots as part of James Madison’s 19-18 overtime win against No. 3 North Carolina. She scored a pair of first-half goals to help the Dukes build an early 6-4 lead, while she completed her hat trick early in the third quarter to give James Madison an 11-10 lead as part of a 7-0 run.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shallow led a Temple defense that limited Colgate to only five goals (two in the second half) and 11 shots in an 11-5 Owls victory. Shallow led all players with six ground balls and five caused turnovers as part of a unit that forced 21 Raider turnovers and held Colgate scoreless for the final 11:03.

Behar entered the season-opener against Queens late in the second quarter and with East Carolina facing an 8-4 deficit. She helped the Pirates rally for a 15-12 victory, however, by making 11 saves and allowing only four goals (a .733 save percentage). She allowed one goal in the third period, as the Pirates reeled off a 5-0 run to close the quarter, and made eight fourth-quarter stops to protect a three-goal lead.

Bleckley was a starter in her collegiate debut as she helped James Madison to a 19-18 overtime win against No. 3 North Carolina. She had two ground balls to go with a key caused turnover that led to a fast-break goal that gave the Dukes a 17-15 fourth-quarter lead.
