IRVING, Texas – Four swimmers from the American Athletic Conference have been invited to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held March 20-23 at the Jack Bauerle Pool at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia.
FIU’s Christie Chue, Rice’s Ella Dyson and Arielle Hayon and Tulane’s Victoria Raymond have all been selected. All four captured individual titles at the 2024 American Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in February. FIU captured its first team women’s swimming and diving title in The American.
Chue, The American’s Most Outstanding Swimmer, was selected for the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. Chue won both events, along with the 200-yard individual medley at the conference meet. She is seeded 20
th in the 200 breaststroke and 24
th in the 100. Her time in the 200 breaststroke of 2:07.99 was an AAC Championship record mark.
Dyson captured the 1,650-yard freestyle event at the conference championships and is seeded 36
th at the national meet. Hayon won the 100-yard butterfly in an AAC Championship record time of 51.38 and is seeded 17
th.
Raymond was selected as The American’s Freshman of the Year after winning the 200-yard butterfly at the conference meet. She finished second to Hayon in the 100 butterfly in 51.70 and is seeded 27
th for the national meet.
Individual swimmers selected for the NCAA Championships are also allowed to compete in events they secured an NCAA B Standard time in, up to a total of three events.
Divers earned NCAA selection through qualification at NCAA Zone Diving Championships.
ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday. Tape-delayed coverage of the women’s championships will be on ESPNU at 7 p.m. Eastern time, Wednesday, March 27.
