IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the ninth week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryley Johnson, Jr., OF, East Carolina
Johnson helped lead the Pirates to a 4-1 week by hitting .533 (8-15) with eight runs scored, two doubles, a triple, a home run and six RBI. The junior had a hit and scored a run in all five contests. He had three runs driven in in two of the Pirates’ games against Charlotte over the weekend.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Trey Yesavage, Jr., East Carolina
Yesavage earned the win on Friday night against Charlotte, pitching the first six innings of a 7-inning no hitter. The junior scattered three walks and struck out 12 Charlotte batters.
HONOR ROLL
Colin Daniel, So., P, UAB
Daniel pitched 8.2 innings for the Blazers in a 4-3 win over Rice on Sunday. The sophomore struck out 11 while allowing seven hits and three runs (two earned).
John Schroeder, Jr., C, Florida Atlantic
Schroeder hit .353 (6-17) with five runs scored, three home runs and seven runs driven in for the Owls.
Pierre Seals, Jr., OF, Memphis
Seals led the league in hitting last week, batting .583 (7-12) with four runs scored, two home runs and four RBI in three games.
James Taussig, Jr., UTL, UTSA
Taussig hit .500 (6-12) with four runs, one double, two home runs and four RBI as the Roadrunners won 2-of-3 against Memphis to remain in first place in The American’s standings.
Brady Marget, Jr., INF, Tulane
Marget hit .412 (7-17) with two runs, two doubles and five RBI as the Green Wave went 3-1 last week.
