IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 14.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Danielle Pavinelli • Sr. • Florida • Northport, N.Y.
Pavinelli led a balanced Florida attack with five points (2g, 3a) in Gators to a 15-7 win against No. 14 James Madison, lifting the Gators to sole possession of first place in The American standings. Each of Pavinelli’s goals gave Florida a lead, while she added a pair of assists as part of the decisive 8-0 run that put the game away. Pavinelli improved her season totals to 34 goals, 27 assists and 61 points.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Belle Mastropietro • Gr. • Temple • Springfield, Pa.
Mastropietro scored three goals and added four assists for seven points - the most of any American Athletic Conference player this week - to lead Temple to a key 13-9 win against Cincinnati. Mastropietro figured in five goals (2g, 3a) as part of the Owls’ decisive 8-0 run in the second and third quarters to erase an early 5-2 deficit and build a 10-5 lead. She added a ground ball, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Shallow • Sr. • Temple • Havertown, Pa.
Shallow led a Temple defense that limited Cincinnati to nine goals and 18 shots in a 13-9 victory to put the Owls in second place in The American standings. Shallow had game highs with four ground balls, seven draw controls and three caused turnovers as the Owls limited the Bearcats to five goals in the last three quarters and held Cincinnati to single-digit scoring for just the third time this season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Finnelle made 12 saves and allowed seven goals for a .632 save percentage to anchor Florida’s 15-7 victory against No. 14 James Madison, leaving the Gators as the only unbeaten team in American Athletic Conference play. Finnelle limited the Dukes to three goals in the second half, allowing Florida to pull away from what had been a 4-4 game at halftime. She made three stops and allowed one goal in the fourth quarter as Florida outscored JMU 7-1 in the final 15 minutes.

Simpson earns Freshman of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after she contributed in both ends of the field in Cincinnati’s 13-9 loss at Temple. Simpson scored two goals and added an assist, two ground balls and three draw controls. She had a goal and an assist in the second half, including an assist on a goal that brought the Bearcats within two early in the fourth quarter.
