IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the penultimate week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jackson Linn, Jr., OF, Tulane
Linn helped lead the Green Wave to sweep over first-place East Carolina by hitting .467 (7-15) with five runs scored, four home runs and five runs driven in last week. In Sunday’s game, he hit two home runs, including a game-tying two-run shot in the eighth inning before scoring the winning run in the 10
th inning.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chandler Welch, Jr., Tulane
Welch earned the win the Green Wave’s 7-3 win on Saturday against East Carolina, pitching 7.1 innings with six strikeouts and three runs given up.
HONOR ROLL
Gavin Lewis Jr, Jr., INF, UAB
Lewis hit .500 (6-12) with two runs scored, a home run and four RBI as the Blazers earned a series win over Memphis.
Pierce Gallo, Sr., INF, Rice
Gallo hit .368 (7-19) with two home runs and seven runs driven in as the Owls played in five games last week, including a series win over Florida Atlantic.
Matt King, Jr., SS, UTSA
King hit .429 (6-14) with three runs scored as the Roadrunners earned a series win over South Florida and pulled to within one game of first place in The American’s standings.
Ruger Riojas, So., P, UTSA
Riojas earned a win and a save in UTSA’s series win over South Florida, and did not allow an earned run in 4.1 innings of relief.
Tommy LaPour, Fr., P, Wichita State
LaPour earned the win on Friday against Charlotte, throwing six innings with one hit and one run allowed with five walks and three strikeouts.
