East Carolina Undone In Second Half at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter passed for 223 yards and four touchdowns, inlcuding three second-half scores, as the Flames rallied fron an early deficit to take a 35-24 win against East Carolina Saturday night.

The game was delayed by four hours, 40 minutes shortly after the opening kickoff and it didn't end until 2 a.m. Eastern time. 

The Flames were on the short end of a 17-0 score late in the second quarter, but came all the way back by scoring touchdowns on their first five possessions of the second half.

The turning point came late in the second quarter, when an interception set East Carolina up at the Liberty 7-yard line with a chance to effectively put the game away, but the Pirates came up empty as a short field goal sailed wide.

Quinton Cooley rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for Liberty, which won its 16th consecutive regular-season game. Salter, meanwhile, completed 19 of 32 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns.

East Carolina quarterback Jake Garcia went 20-of-36 for 204 yards and was intercepted once.
