UAB Men’s Soccer Downs North Florida, 1-0

09.06.24

UAB men's soccer picked up its second win of the season on Friday afternoon, downing North Florida by a score of 1-0. Tony Kim's first half goal was the difference in the match.

The Blazers outshot the Ospreys 12-11, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.

Tony Kim put the Blazers ahead in the 35th minute with his second goal of the season. UAB has scored first in each of its last three matches.

UAB nearly added a second goal early in the first half as Ivan Jolivet's shot was saved by the UNF keeper just underneath the bar. The Blazers forced the keeper to make four saves in the second half, applying pressure to the UNF defense early.

The Ospreys had a flurry of chances late in the match, but the UAB defense was able to hold on. Reigning AAC Goalkeeper of the Week Jonathan Munteanu was called upon in the 81st minute to make his only save of the day to hang on for the 1-0 victory.

Charlotte and Memphis will pick up action again on Sunday. The full schedule can be found here.
