South Florida's Pinion, Hightower Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s basketball honors for the second week of the regular season.
 
Player of the Week
Joseph Pinion, Sr., G, South Florida
Pinion helped lead South Florida to a pair of victories last week by averaging 24.0 points and 3.0 rebounds. Against Coppin State on November 12, the senior posted 24 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, while at Kennesaw State on November 16, Pinion added 24 more points, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range.
 
Freshman of the Week
Gavin Hightower, G, South Florida
Hightower averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in South Florida wins over Coppin State and Kennesaw State. For the week, the freshman was 7-of-8 from the field.
 
Honorable Mention
Chance Westry, So., G, UAB
Westry averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Blazers split a pair of games last week.
 
Giovanni Emejuru, Sr., C, East Carolina
Emejuru posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Pirates won their lone game last week.
 
Derrian Ford, Sr., G, Temple
Ford averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 week for the Owls.
 
Miles Barnstable, Sr., G, Tulsa
Barnstable recorded 21 points, six rebounds and three assists as Tulsa defeated Oral Roberts on the road.
 
Kenyon Giles, Sr., G, Wichita State
Giles posted 24 points on 7-of-8 3-point shooting in a Shocker win over Loyola Chicago.
