Ingram Leads South Florida to Win over Duke

TAMPA, Fla.  – Stefani Ingram produced a career-high 27 points and led the University of South Florida women's basketball team on Thursday inside the Yuengling Center. The Bulls (3-2) finished with four players in double digits as they dominated the Blue Devils (3-3) 85-72. USF held the lead for 37:43.
 
For the second straight season, South Florida defeated Duke. The Bulls have outscored the Blue Devils 72-44 in the first half of the last two meetings. Ingram finished with a career-best 27 points, 21 of those coming in the second half. Edyn Battle tallied 17 points, while Katie Davidson produced 13. Fatou Diakite rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. L'or Mputu brought down a game-high 11 rebounds. USF improved to 3-0 when at least four players finish in double figures.
 
After the first quarter started as a back-and-forth battle, the Bulls went on an 8-0 run and forced the Blue Devils to take a timeout as USF led 10-4. Duke's only lead came with the score at 4-2 with 8:15 left in the first quarter. Davidson ended the first quarter with 10 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from 3-point range. The Bulls held a 23-16 lead after the first stanza.
 
South Florida utilized stout defense to extend its lead to 14 points, 35-21, with 2:50 left in the first half. The Bulls held the Blue Devils to just one field goal for the final 7:37 of the second quarter. USF took a 39-29 lead into the break. In the first half, the Bulls held the Blue Devils scoreless from 3-point range and 37.0 percent from the field. Offensively, South Florida shot 63.0 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from 3-point range.

With the Bulls up 41-32, Ingram scored the following 11 points for the Bulls. She knocked down three consecutive 3-pointers and added two free throws. Ingram finished the quarter with 14 points as the Bulls extended their lead to 63-46 after three quarters of action.

South Florida extended its lead to 21, 72-54, midway through the fourth quarter. The Bulls went 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and went on to win 85-72.

The Bulls continued to pressure the Blue Devils, keeping them below 40 percent from the field and from behind the 3-point line. South Florida held a 38-34 advantage in points in the paint. The Bulls' bench outscored the Blue Devils' bench 22-9. USF outrebounded Duke 39-34.
