UAB, Rice Earn Weekly Volleyball Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 2.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Jorda Crook, Jr., OPP, UAB
Crook averaged 5.00 kills per set while guiding the Blazers to road wins over Memphis and Tulane. Against Tulane, she had a career-high 25 kills.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Gaby Mansfield, Sr., L, Rice
Mansfield averaged 4.83 digs per set while leading the Owls to a pair of road sweeps over East Carolina and Charlotte.
 
Setter of the Week
Kaia Mateo, Jr., S, Rice
Mateo paced the Owls with 13.67 assists per set in two road sweeps. She had a total of 82 assist on the weekend without any setting errors.
 
Freshman of the Week
Aaliyah Smith, Fr., OH, Rice
Smith averaged 3.33 kills per set in sweeps over East Carolin and Charlotte. The freshman hit .300 on 50 total attempts.
 
Honorable Mention
Summer Snead, R-So., MB, UAB
Snead averaged 1.75 blocks per set in a pair of road wins, with at least six blocks in both matches.
 
Loredana Fouonji, Jr., MB, North Texas
Fouonji averaged 1.44 blocks per set in a pair of sweeps over Memphis and UTSA.
 
Alexa Washington, Sr., S, North Texas
Washington averaged 5.83 assists per set in sweeps over Memphis and UTSA.
 
Maria Clara Andrade, Sr., OH, South Florida
Andrade led the Bulls with 5.00 kills per set, while hitting .400 on the weekend.
 
Brooklyn Leggett, R-Sr., RS, Wichita State
Leggett averaged 4.00 kills per set in a pair of road wins while hitting .469.
