TAMPA, Fla. — Arnau Pedrola Fortuny scored less than 90 seconds into overtime to lift the No. 6 seed Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 3-2 victory over the No. 3 seed South Florida Bulls in the first round of the American Men’s Soccer Championship on Friday night.

Pedrola Fortuny’s game-winning goal, his first of the season, came at the 90:29 mark on an assist from Chris Nezianya. The victory, secured at Corbett Soccer Stadium, propels Tulsa (5-8-4) into the tournament semifinals.

South Florida (9-3-5) appeared to be in control early, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime. Gyuwon Chong put Tulsa on the board first with a goal in the 22nd minute, but the Bulls responded quickly with strikes from Jakob Auby and Tyler Richardson to take the lead.

The Golden Hurricane found the equalizer in the second half when Alex Cunningham scored in the 54th minute, assisted by Nils Orywol. The defenses held strong for the rest of regulation, sending the match into the sudden-death overtime period, where Pedrola Fortuny delivered the decisive blow for the road team.

Tulsa goalkeeper Carlito Saylon recorded four saves to preserve the victory, while South Florida’s keeper, Jahiem Wickham, tallied seven saves on the night.
