IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s basketball honors for the fourth week of the regular season.
Player of the Week
Je’Shawn Stevenson, So., G, North Texas
Stevenson helped lead the Mean Green to a pair of victories averaging 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Against Eastern Washington on Tuesday, the sophomore posted 26 points and six rebounds, while on Sunday against Prairie View A&M, the guard had 23 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Freshman of the Week
Jaylen Lawal, G, Tulsa
Lawal averaged 9.5 points and helped Tulsa win the Acrisure Holiday Invitational with wins over San Jose State and Northern Iowa. He scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds against San Jose State and then scored a career-high 12 points in the championship game over Northern Iowa, the first in-season tournament championship for Tulsa since 2002.
Honorable Mention
Jacob Meyer, Jr., G, UAB
Averaged 20.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in wins over Southern Illinois and UTEP.
Julius Thedford, So., G, Memphis
Posted 15 points, six rebounds and three steals in the Tigers’ win over Southern Illinois.
CJ Brown, So., G, South Florida
Averaged 12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists at the Battle 4 Atlantis, including a near triple-double with 18 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a win over Western Kentucky.
Asher Woods, Sr., G, Tulane
Dropped 19 points, five rebounds and three steals in a win over Nicholls.
Miles Barnstable, Sr., G, Tulsa
MVP of the Acrisure Holiday Invitational by averaging 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two wins.
