IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 30.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Raina Tomasicka, So., G, South Florida
Tomasicka led the Bulls to wins over Harvard and New Orleans, averaging 17.5 points, three rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 50 percent from the floor. Against New Orleans, the sophomore scored 21 points and dished out four assists.
Freshman of the Week
Mecailin Marshall, Fr., G, Tulane
Marshall led the Green Wave in scoring, averaging 19 points per game, while grabbing six rebounds per game. Her 21 points in the game against Boise State marked a new career-high for the freshman.
Honorable Mention
Kennedy Fauntleroy, Sr., G, East Carolina
Fauntleroy stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 11.3 points, five assists, 3.7 steals and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Aysia Proctor, Jr., G, North Texas
Proctor averaged 14.5 points and grabbed 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 55 percent from the floor.
Shelby Hayes, Sr., C, Rice
Hayes recorded a double-double in the win over Illinois State, scoring 23 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Kaylah Turner, Jr., G, Temple
Turner averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and three assists per game in a pair of games for the Owls.
Cheyenne Rowe, Sr., F, UTSA
Rowe averaged 16.5 points and seven rebounds per game, including a 20-point outing in a road win over Grand Canyon.
