IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s basketball honors for the sixth week of the regular season.
Player of the Week
Tylen Riley, Jr., G, Tulsa
Riley averaged 21.5 points and 4.0 assists as the Golden Hurricane improved to 10-1 on the season with wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and New Mexico State. On Sunday in Frisco, Texas, against NMSU, the junior scored 29 points and five assists, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range and a perfect 13-for-13 from the charity stripe.
Freshman of the Week
Tristan Beckford, F, South Florida
Beckford helped lead the Bulls to a win over Charleston with 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks on Wednesday night. The forward was 6-for-9 from the field and he set season-highs in all stat categories in the game.
Honorable Mention
Jordan Riley, Sr., G, East Carolina
Averaged 28.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Pirates went 1-1 on the week.
Devin Vanterpool, R-So., G, Florida Atlantic
Averaged 19.5 points and 7.0 rebounds as the Owls picked up two wins.
Je’Shawn Stevenson, So., G, North Texas
Dropped 22 points and five rebounds as the Mean Green went on the road to pick up a 1-point win at South Alabama.
Nick Anderson, Sr., G, Rice
Scored 14 points, including two 3-pointers in the final minute as the Owls came from behind late to defeat Arkansas State, 77-76.
Jordan Mason, Sr., G, Temple
Averaged a double-double in two Temple wins with 12.5 points, 10.0 assists and 6.5 rebounds.
