IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s basketball honors for the seventh week of the regular season.
 
Player of the Week
Derrian Ford, Sr., G, Temple
Ford helped lead the Owls to a 68-63 road win at Davidson with 23 points and nine rebounds on Thursday night, December 18.. It was the sixth 20-point performance of the season for the senior guard, and he has posted double-digit points in all 12 contests this season.
 
Freshman of the Week
Josiah Parker, G/F, Florida Atlantic
Parker scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting and grabbed four rebounds as the Owls played at Saint Mary’s on Friday night, December 19.
 
Honorable Mention
Chance Westry, So., G, UAB
Averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists as the Blazers defeated Cleveland State and UNC Asheville.
 
Jordan Riley, Sr., G, East Carolina
Dropped 24 points along with four rebounds, four steals and three assists in the Pirates’ win over Presbyterian.
 
Izaiyah Nelson, Sr., F, South Florida
Posted two double-doubles against Alabama and UMBC, averaging 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.
 
Ade Popoola, Jr., G, Tulsa
Recorded 17 points and four rebounds as the Golden Hurricane improved to 11-1 on the season with a road win at Western Kentucky.
 
Will Berg, Jr., C, Wichita State
Averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as the Shockers defeated Wofford and Eastern Kentucky.
