IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, December 21.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mady Cartwright, Jr., G, Tulsa
Cartwright helped lead the Golden Hurricane to a win over Florida, scoring eight of the final 10 points to life Tulsa to a 74-67 win. She tallied 26 points with three assists and three steals in the win over the Gators.
Freshman of the Week
Mylee Guinn, Fr., G, Rice
Guinn averaged nine points and two assists per game in wins over Houston Christian and Grambling. Against Houston Christian, the guard scored 10 points, connecting on three-pointers.
Honorable Mention
Taylor Barner, R-Fr., Guard, East Carolina
Barner led the Pirates to wins over Wofford and Campbell, averaging 21 points. She scored 30 points in the win over Wofford.
Shelby Hayes, Sr., C, Rice
Hayes led the Owls to a 2-0 week, averaging 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.
Stefanie Ingram, R-Jr., G, South Florida
Ingram averaged 15 points, 5.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds in a games against No. 13/11 Vanderbilt, No. 3 South Carolina and Navy.
Jaleesa Molina, Jr., F, Temple
Molina recorded a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double in Temple’s win over Coppin State.
Abby Cater, Gr., G, Wichita State
Cater scored 24 points and 11-of-12 shooting in Wichita State’s win over Oral Roberts.
