IRVING, Texas – Rice leads after the third night of the 2025 American Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship Friday evening, February 21, at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium in Dallas.
Rice has 1,004.5 points through three days, ahead of FIU with 964. Tulane is third with 842.5 points, ahead of East Carolina (818), North Texas (789) and Florida Atlantic (659).
Nicole Frank of FIU became the first 3-time winner in the 400-yard individual medley in conference history, placing first in a time of 4:12.23. Rice’s Amelia Kane (4:14.78) and Lily Cramer (4:15.54) finished second and third, respectively.
Rice’s Arielle Hayon also became a 3-time event champion, winning the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.30. Catherine Russo of Tulane was second in 52.92, while FIU’s Oumy Diop was third in 53.02.
Maya Wilson of Tulane captured the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:46.04. Rice’s Ava Portello and Tulane’s Lise Coetzee finished in a tie for second place in 1:47.23. Wilson’s win was the first for the Green Wave in the 200 free since 2022 (Lilly Byrne).
Emma Becker of FIU broke the Championship record in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.02, besting the previous record of 59.07, set by Joleigh Crye of Cincinnati in 2023. East Carolina’s Kaylee Hamblin was second in 1:00.41, while FIU’s Ingrid Huszar touched third in 1:00.55.
In the 100-yard backstroke, FIU’s Diana Santamaria won in a time of 53.74, just 0.14 ahead of second-place Andrea Zeebe of Tulane (53.88). Rice’s Mimi Filkin placed third in 53.91.
Kamryn Wong of North Texas won her second individual event of the Championship, claiming the 3-meter diving event with a score of 338.20 points. Defending champion Frida Zuniga Guzman of East Carolina placed second with 332.70 points, while FIU’s Av Osero was third with 315.55 points.
The FIU team of Santamaria, Becker, Diop and Tawanna McLemore finished first in 3:36.12, its second win in the event as part of The American (2023). Rice placed second in 3:37.23, while North Texas was third in 3:39.69.
The Championship concludes Saturday, February 22 with prelims starting at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. CT and finals starting at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT. All sessions will air live on ESPN+.
