UAB's Braunschweig, Charlotte's Taylor Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the second week of the regular season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Logan Braunschweig, Sr., OF, UAB
Braunschweig led the Blazers to a 4-0 week including a sweep over South Alabama by hitting .429 (6-14) with seven runs scored and four runs driven in. He had a hit in each game, including two multi-hit games and scored at least two runs in three of the four contests. He also stole a base in each game and had six for the week.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Joseph Taylor, So., Charlotte
Taylor appeared in two games last week, earning a win and a save while not allowing a run in 6.0 innings of work. He earned a 6-out save with four strikeouts in a 4-2 win against Wofford on Tuesday before throwing the final four innings with eight strikeouts in the series-opening, 11-inning 10-9 victory over Old Dominion on Friday.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Cole Cheatham, Sr., P, UAB
Cheatham pitched six scoreless innings with two hits and two walks while striking out five in an 8-0 win over South Alabama on Friday.
 
Jake Duer, Jr., OF, Florida Atlantic
Duer aided the Owls to a win over Miami and series win over UConn by hitting .632 (12-19) with five runs scored and two RBI.
 
Luke Ellis, R-Jr., P, Memphis
Ellis appeared in two contests for Memphis, allowing three hits with one walk and no runs in seven innings of action with six strikeouts.
 
Caden Miller, Fr., INF, UTSA
Miller hit .467 (7-15) as the Roadrunners went 4-1 last week, including a 4-game sweep of LIU. The freshman scored seven runs, drove in five runs and had two doubles and a pair of home runs.
 
Braylon Owens, Sr., P, UTSA
Owens struck out eight batters in six scoreless innings with only two hits allowed in a 13-0 win over LIU on Saturday.
