UTSA Sweeps Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the sixth week of the regular season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Stucky, Sr., C, UTSA
Stucky helped lead the Roadrunners to a 3-1 week by hitting .313 (5-for-16) with four runs scored, one double, three home runs and five RBI. The senior hit the go-ahead home run in the 12th inning against in a win over then-No. 8 Texas and followed that with home runs in the first two games of a weekend series against Charlotte. Stucky scored a run in all four games last week and had hits and RBI in three of the four.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Braylon Owens, Sr., UTSA
Owens picked up two wins this past week for the Roadrunners. The senior closed the door in extra innings on then-No. 8 Texas in midweek, allowing one hit in 1.2 innings of work, before throwing 8.0 innings against Charlotte in a 4-1 win on Saturday, allowing two runs while issuing one walk with seven strikeouts in a 4-1 win.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Blake Gillespie, Jr., P, Charlotte
Gillespie picked up the win in a 3-2 49er victory over UTSA on Friday night, throwing eight innings while scattering five hits and two runs with no walks and 13 strikeouts.
 
Braxton Tramel, Fr., OF, East Carolina
Tramel aided the Pirates to a series sweep of Memphis by hitting .667 (6-for-9) with two runs scored, two home runs and five RBI.
 
Carlos Jacome, So., INF, South Florida
Jacome hit .450 (9-for-20) for the Bulls as they went 4-1, including a series win over UAB. The sophomore scored five runs, had two doubles and a home run, and drove in eight.
 
Jack Nedrow, Sr., P, South Florida
Nedrow earned a win and a save on the week, tossing 8.0 total innings with four hits and two runs allowed while walking none with eight strikeouts in wins over FGCU and UAB.
 
Michael Lombardi, Jr., P/OF, Tulane
Lombardi earned two saves from the mound for the Green Wave in a series win over Wichita State, totaling 3.0 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He also hit .333 (4-for-12) with three runs scored, two home runs and six RBI from the plate.
