IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the seventh week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marcus Brodil, Sr., OF, South Florida
Brodil helped lead the Bulls to a sweep of Tulane by hitting .600 for the week (6-10) with three runs scored, two doubles and four runs driven in. The senior recorded a hit in each game, including two doubles, three runs scored and four RBI in a win on Sunday.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Corey Braun, R-Jr., South Florida
Braun pitched a complete-game shutout on Friday, March 28, against Tulane, allowing just two hits with one walk while striking out six Green Wave batters in a 3-0 win. It was the first 9-inning complete-game shutout for a Bull since 2019.
HONORABLE MENTION
Blake Gillespie, Jr., P, Charlotte
Gilllespie earned the win against Memphis on Friday, allowing eight hits and two runs in eight innings of work with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Connor Maryniak, Sr., INF, Charlotte
Maryniak hit .467 (7-15) with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and three runs driven in as the 49ers went 3-1 last week, including a sweep of Memphis.
Brad Pruett, So., P, East Carolina
Pruett made three appearances this week, earning a win and save against Rice. He allowed two runs on eight hits in eight innings of relief with zero walks and eight strikeouts.
James Taussig, Sr., OF, UTSA
Taussig helped lead the Roadrunners to a 4-0 week, including a sweep of Florida Atlantic, by hitting .333 (4-12) with two runs scored, a double and four RBI, including the walk-off RBI single on Sunday.
Grant Adler, R-Jr., P, Wichita State
Adler earned a 7-inning, complete-game win on Friday over UAB, scattering four hits and one unearned run with one walk and four strikeouts.
