Charlotte's Gillespie, UTSA's Lytle Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the ninth week of the regular season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mason Lytle, Sr., OF, UTSA
Lytle aided the Roadrunners to first place in The American standings with a sweep of Wichita State by hitting .462 (6-13) for the week with four runs scored, two doubles, one home run and five runs driven in. He reached base at least twice in all three games, including a 4-hit, 4-run, 4-RBI game on Saturday.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Blake Gillespie, Jr., P, Charlotte
Gillespie threw eight scoreless innings, scattering five hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts, as the 49ers defeated East Carolina on Friday, April 11. It was the junior’s four outing this season with 8-plus innings and 11-plus strikeouts.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Spencer Nolan, Jr., UTL, Charlotte
Nolan and the 49ers went 3-1 last week, including a series win over East Carolina, hitting .500 (6-12) with two runs scored, two doubles and five runs driven in.
 
Trey Beard, So., P, Florida Atlantic
Beard allowed one run and three hits in seven innings with 11 strikeouts as the Owls defeated Memphis, 2-1, on Friday.
 
Cade Greer, Jr., OF, Memphis
Greer hit .364 (4-11) with six runs scored, one double and one home run in four games last week, including a Tiger series win over Florida Atlantic.
 
Hiram Bocachica Jr, Fr., 2B, Rice
Bocachica helped the Owls earn a series win over South Florida by hitting .300 (3-10) with 6 runs scored, two home runs and six runs driven in last week.
 
Conor Myles, Sr., P, UTSA
Myles earned the win on Sunday against Wichita State, going 7.0 innings with two hits and one run allowed with two walks and three strikeouts in a 5-1 victory.
