James Madison, East Carolina, South Florida Take Weekly Lacrosse Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 13.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maddie Epke • Jr. • James Madison • Guilford, Conn.
Epke registered a combined 14 goals, three assists and 24 draw controls in two road wins for James Madison, which remained alone atop The American standings entering the home stretch of the season. She had six goals, two assists and nine draw controls in a 16-11 win at Georgetown and followed with eight goals – the most by an American Athletic Conference player in a game this season - with an assist and 15 draw controls in an 18-4 win at Temple. Epke sits atop The American’s leaderboard in both goals (46) and draw controls (165) and is the Division I leader in draw controls per game (12.7).
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Kayla Wilkes • Jr. • East Carolina • Sinking Spring, Pa.
Wilkes combined for four goals, two assists, five ground balls, seven draw controls and four caused turnovers in a 1-1 week for East Carolina, which remains a game out of first place in the American Athletic Conference standings. She had two goals, an assist, three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover in a loss to top-ranked North Carolina and added two goals, an assist, two ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 14-13 win against Vanderbilt. .
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ansley Knor • RFr. • South Florida • Acworth, Ga.
Knor led a South Florida defense that limited Old Dominion to four goals after the first period in a 15-10 win against the Monarchs to secure a spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship. Knor had four ground balls and three caused turnovers as part of a Bulls ride that contributed to 25 ODU turnovers and held the Monarchs to 12-of-25 on clear attempts.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Adanya Moyer • Sr. • James Madison • Silver Spring, Md.
Moyer led James Madison to a pair of road wins last week as she made a combined 17 saves and allowed 15 goals in 99 minutes. She made 14 stops in a 16-11 win at Georgetown in which she limited the Hoyas to only four second-half goals. She made three saves in 39 minutes at Temple before coming out of the game with a 13-4 lead. .
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Payton Root • A • Fr. • James Madison • Guilford, Conn.
Root contributed to a pair of road victories for James Madison last week as she scored three goals with nine assists in wins against Georgetown (16-11) and Temple (18-4). She had a goal and seven assists against the Hoyas, finishing with the most assists by an American Athletic Conference player in a game this season, and added two goals and two assists against the Owls.

Scored a school-record seven goals and had 10 draw controls in a 19-16 loss to California. 
 
Leah Bestany • A • Sr. • East Carolina • Bethpage, N.Y.
Scored four goals an assisted on the game-winning goal with 1.9 seconds left in an 14-13 win against Vanderbilt. 
 
Sylvia Mayo • M • Fr. • Old Dominion • Saunderstown, R.I.
Scored four goals on six shots with two ground balls in a 15-10 loss at South Florida.

Scored four goals in a 15-10 win against Old Dominion.
