IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 20.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Chessock • Jr. • East Carolina • Winston-Salem, N.C.
Chessock scored a game- and career-high five goals to lead East Carolina to a 13-12 win at Charlotte, giving the Pirates a chance to cilnch a share of the American Athletic Conference regular-season title with a win this Saturday. Chessock, who scored her five goals on only six shots, scored two key goals at the end of the second quarter to tie the game at halftime, and she gave the Pirates the lead for good with her fourth goal late in the third quarter.

Baker scored a game-high five goals and added a ground ball, a draw control and a caused turnover in Vanderbilt’s 20-6 win at Lindenwood. She had a hat trick in the first quarter to help stake the Commodores to an 8-1 lead in the first 15 minutes, while she added single goals in the third and fourth quarters to maintain a double-digit lead. Baker is one of three Vanderbilt players with at least 37 goals this season.

Cuivello led a James Madison defense that limited two opponents to six goals each in a 2-0 week. She won two draw controls, had a ground ball and two caused turnovers in a 17-6 win against Liberty, while she added a career-high six draw controls with a ground ball in a 20-6 win against South Florida to clinch a share of the American Athletic conference regular-season title.

Moyer continued her strong senior season by allowing a combined 10 goals with 14 saves to lead James Madison to wins against Liberty (17-6) and South Florida (20-6). She made four stops in 37 minutes against the Flames and made 10 saves while allowing only six goals in the win against the Bulls to clinch a share of the American Athletic Conference regular-season title.

Matthews scored five goals with three assists, three ground balls and six draw controls in a 2-0 week for James Madison, which clinched a share of the American Athletic Conference regular-season championship. She had a goal and an assist in a 17-6 win against Liberty and added four goals with two assists with three ground balls in a 20-6 win against South Florida. Matthews ranks third on the Dukes in scoring with 22 goals and 12 assists for 34 points in her freshman season.
