IRVING, Texas – A pair of American Athletic Conference defensive backs heard their names called on the second day of the 2025 NFL Draft, which continued Friday evening in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
East Carolina cornerback Savon Revel Jr. was the first player from The American to come off the board when he was taken by the Dallas Cowboys with the 12th selection in the third round (76th overall). Revel missed the 2024 season due to a knee injury, but was impressive in his predraft workouts and was considered a first-round talent by many observers.
Tulane cornerback Caleb Ransaw was chosen later in the third round as the Jacksonville Jaguars selected the Green Wave standout with the 24th pick (88th overall).
Four players from The American were chosen on Day 3 of the draft, beginning with UTSA cornerback Zah Frazier, who went to the Chicago Bears in the fifth round with the 169th overall pick. Navy safety Rayuan Lane III became the second player from The American to be taken by Jacksonville as he went in the sixth round with the 200th pick.
Tulane cornerback Micah Robinson went to the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round (237th overall), while Memphis cornerback Kobee Minor was the final pick in the draft as he was taken by the New England Patriots with the 257th pick. Minor becomes the fourth American Athletic Conference player to earn the distinction of Mr. Irrelevant as the final pick in the draft - the conference's three previous selections all enjoyed multi-year NFL careers.
