James Madison, East Carolina, Vanderbilt Players Take Final Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 27.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Olivia Matthews • Fr. • James Madison • Bedford, N.H.
Matthews scored three goals with an assist and scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give James Madison a 14-13 win at East Carolina, clinching the outright American Athletic Conference regular-season title for the Dukes. Matthews’ first two goals tied the score, including a key fourth-quarter goal to make it 11-11, before she ended the game 37 seconds into overtime. Matthews finishes the regular season with 25 goals and 13 assists for 38 points in her freshman season.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Kayla Wilkes • Jr. • East Carolina • Sinking Spring, Pa.
Wilkes scored a combined seven goals with five assists in a 1-1 week for East Carolina, leading all American Athletic Conference players with 6.0 points per game last week. She scored five goals with two assists, two ground balls and four draw controls in a 14-13 win against William & Mary, while she added two goals, three assists, four ground balls, five draw controls and four caused turnovers in a 14-13 overtime loss to No. 11 James Madison. Wilkes finished the regular season as East Carolina’s leading scorer with 37 goals and 11 assists for 48 points.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Gladding • So. • Vanderbilt • Pompano Beach, Fla.
Gladding had a combined six ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for Vanderbilt, which held its two opponents to 7.5 goals per game. She had three ground balls and two caused turnovers in each game, an 18-9 win against Xavier and a 16-6 victory against Old Dominion to clinch a spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship. .
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Jaime Behar • Jr. • East Carolina • Mineola, N.Y.
Behar made a combined 26 saves and registered a .491 save percentage in a 1-1 week for East Carolina. She made 10 saves, including four in the fourth quarter, in a 14-13 win against William & Mary, while she had 16 stops in a 14-13 loss to No. 11 James Madison. Behar finished the regular season as the American Athletic Conference leader with 9.3 saves per game.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Reese Cuivello • D • Fr. • James Madison • Fairfax, Va.
Cuivello had three draw controls and two caused turnovers in James Madison’s 14-13 overtime win against East Carolina, clinching the outright American Athletic Conference regular-season title for the Dukes. Cuivello has registered 21 ground balls, 33 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers in the regular season, starting every game as a true freshman.
