Tulane Advances to Third Consecutive Final with 6-3 Win over UTSA at 2025 American Baseball Championship presented by Regions

CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 5 Tulane defeated No. 1 UTSA, 6-3, on Saturday morning, May 24, to advance to the final of the 2025 American Baseball Championship presented by Regions at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla.
 
The Green Wave (33-24) will look for its third consecutive American Baseball Championship on Sunday, May 25 at noon on ESPNEWS and ESPN+ against the winner of East Carolina and South Florida. Tulane has now won nine consecutive games at the conference tournament.
 
Entering the game when the score was tied, 3-3, Tulane reliever Carter Benbrook (3-1) pitched 4.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win, while Tayler Montiel came on for his second save of the season.
 
Tulane struck first in the top of the first when Mathias Haas singled to score Jason Wachs and doubled its lead in the top of the third on a Connor Rasmussen sacrifice fly that also scored Wachs.
 
UTSA scored three in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead, scoring the first two on a Tulane error before James Taussig singled home Mason Lytle.
 
Tulane tied the game in the top of the fifth on a Gavin Schulz sacrifice fly that scored Kaikea Harrison and then took the lead in the sixth when Tanner Chun singled to left to score Hugh Pinkney and Theo Bryant IV. The Green Wave pushed the lead to three at 6-3 when Gavin Schulz came home on a double play.
 
Gunnar Brown (3-2) took the loss for UTSA, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings of relief.
