Rice Churns Out 38-17 Win Against Prairie View A&M

HOUSTON — Chase Jenkins and Aaron Turner combined for three rushing touchdowns, and Rice rolled up 347 yards on the ground in a 38-17 victory over Prairie View on Saturday night at Rice Stadium.

Jenkins capped a 12-play drive with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to tie the game at 7–7, then threw a 34-yard scoring strike to Landon Ransom-Goelz early in the third that stretched the lead to 31–7. Turner broke free for a 52-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, while Quinton Jackson added a 1-yard plunge to help the Owls (2-1) seize control by halftime .

Backup quarterback Drew Devillier connected with Tyson Thompson on a 22-yard touchdown pass in the fourth, sealing the win. Jenkins finished with 124 rushing yards and 87 through the air, while Turner added 68 rushing yards and 46 receiving.

Prairie View (1-2) struck first on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Tevin Carter to Travon Jones, but could not sustain drives against Rice’s defensive front. Carter finished 12 of 27 for 131 yards with one touchdown and 65 rushing yards. Jyzaiah Rockwell led all receivers with six catches for 92 yards .

The Owls outgained the Panthers 461–251, controlled possession for more than 36 minutes, and converted 3 of 4 fourth downs.
