Charlotte, Memphis Earn Volleyball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 14.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Amanda Hardt, Jr., OH/RS, Memphis
Hardt had a dominant weekend for the Tigers, averaging 7.38 points per set across three wins.  Against Chattanooga, she finished with 31 kills and 33 points – both single-season highs for the American and second in the NCAA in a four-set match. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Annika Thompson, Sr., L, Charlotte
Thompson earns her second straight defensive player of the week award, averaging 5.27 digs per set across three wins for the 49ers.  Against UNC Greensboro, she set a career-high with 26 digs.
 
Setter of the Week
Madelyn Bach, Fr., S, Memphis
Bach paced the Tigers with 11.92 assists per set to help guide Memphis to a trio of wins.  She posted a career-high 58 assists in the win over Chattanooga – the most in the American and NCAA in a four-set match this season.
 
Freshman of the Week
Madelyn Bach, Fr., S, Memphis
Bach dished out 143 assists across wins against Chattanooga, Lamar and UT Martin.  The freshman setter added 25 digs in the trio of wins, including a double-double against UT Martin with 10 digs and 38 assists.
 
Honorable Mention
Kristen Birmingham, Sr., OH, Charlotte
Birmingham led Charlotte to three wins, averaging 4.55 points per set while hitting .419 from her outside hitter position.


Taryn Gilreath, So., S, East Carolina
Gilreath paced the Pirates, averaging 10.89 assists per set in matches against Liberty and William & Mary.

Loredana Fouonji, Jr., MB, North Texas
Fouonji finished with a conference-high 1.50 blocks per set , including 11 blocks in the 3-2 win over UT Arlington.

Sydney Dunning, Jr., OH, Wichita State
Dunning averaged 4.44 kills per set while hitting .514 to help guide the Shockers to three weekend sweeps.

Jordan Heatherly, Jr., S, Wichita State
Heatherly paced the Shockers to three sweeps, averaging 11.00 assists per set, while adding 2.00 digs per set.
