IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country awards for the week ending Sunday, September 28.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Bernard Cheruiyot, So., Tulane
Cheruiyot earned a podium finish at the competitive Gans Creek Classic, finishing in third place in the 8,000-meter run with a time of 22:32.4.  The sophomore helped the Green Wave finish above seven ranked opponents.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Lucy Ndungu, R-Sr., Wichita State
Ndungu earned a runner-up finish at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational, while helping the Shockers come in second place as a team.  The redshirt-senior ran the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:42.4.
