Temple, Tulsa, Wichita State Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, January 25.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tristen Taylor, Jr. G, Temple
Taylor led the Owls to a pair of close wins over Charlotte and South Florida. The junior guard scored the game-tying points in the 86-83 win over South Florida, while scoring the final ten points in the 83-82 win over Charlotte. She averaged 24 points and 5.5 assists on the week.
 
Abby Cater, Gr., G, Wichita State
Cater had a monster performance for the Shockers, scoring 42 of the 66 points in the win over Memphis. Her 42 points are tied for the second-most in American Conference history and set a new Wichita State program record. It is the 7th most points scored in a game this season in NCAA Division I.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Dora Toman, Fr., G, Tulsa
Toman averaged 12 points and six rebounds in games against Rice and North Texas. She recorded her first double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win at North Texas.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Tanajah Hayes, Gr., G, Charlotte
Hayes averaged 19 points per game in games against Florida Atlantic and Temple. She added eight assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.
 
Keanna Rembert, Sr., F, East Carolina
Rembert led the Pirates to wins over UTSA and UAB, averaging 19.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the field.
 
Megan Nestor, Sr., F, North Texas
Nestor continued her impressive season on the boards, averaging 21 rebounds in two games to go along with her 14 points per contest.
 
Aniah Alexis, So., G, Rice
The Owls remain undefeated in the American as Alexis led Rice with a double-double average of 13.5 points and 11 rebounds in wins over Tulsa and Tulane.
 
Hannah Riddick, R-Sr., F, Tulsa
Riddick averaged 19 points, 2.5 rebounds, two steals, 1.5 assists and one block for the Golden Hurricane.
