IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, January 4.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Keanna Rembert, Sr., F, East Carolina
Rembert led the Pirates to a 2-0 opening week of conference play, defeating UAB and Memphis. The senior forward hit the game-winning three-pointer with five seconds left in overtime to lift East Carolina past the Blazers. She averaged 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the wins.
Freshman of the Week
Dora Toman, Fr., G, Tulsa
Toman led the Golden Hurricane to a win over Temple to begin conference play, scoring eight points and dishing out five assists in the 64-58 win.
Honorable Mention
Princess Anderson, Sr., G, Charlotte
Anderson averaged 19.5 points in a pair of wins, including scoring a career-high 28 points in the win over Memphis.
Aysia Proctor, Jr., G, North Texas
Proctor scored a career-high 22 points in her first start of the season, leading the Mean Green to a win over Florida Atlantic.
Aniah Alexis, So., G, Rice
Alexis led the Owls to a 2-0 week, averaging 19 points and 5.5 rebounds in road wins over South Florida and Florida Atlantic.
Cheyenne Rowe, Sr., F, UTSA
Rowe averaged 13.5 points and 15 rebounds in wins over Tulane and Temple, including 18 rebounds in the win over Temple.
Hannah Riddick, R-Sr., F, Tulsa
Riddick scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the 64-58 win over Wichita State.
