IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of its 2026 men's soccer postseason honors, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Regular-season co-champions Missouri State and Tulsa claimed four of the six major individual honors. Tulsa senior midfielder Luc Achermann-Stanfield was named Midfielder of the Year, while junior Carlito Saylon earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Missouri State fifth-year defender Harris O'Connor was the unanimous selection for Defensive Player of the Year. The Golden Hurricane and Bears coaching staffs were jointly named Coaching Staff of the Year.
Rounding out the major awards, FIU graduate forward Santiago Possu earned Offensive Player of the Year, and UAB defender Tim Pusback was voted Freshman of the Year.
Possu becomes the first Panther to be named American Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with seven goals in league play and ranking second with 14 points. He also tied for the league lead with two game-winning goals.
O'Connor is the first Bear to earn Defensive Player of the Year recognition. He played all 90 minutes in seven of Missouri State's eight conference matches, anchoring a backline that secured three shutouts while also contributing one goal and two assists.
Achermann-Stanfield is the second Golden Hurricane player to win Midfielder of the Year, joining Henry Sach (2021). The senior tied for the league lead in conference goals (7) and added three assists to finish with a league-high 17 points.
Saylon secured Tulsa's third Goalkeeper of the Year award, becoming the program's first winner since Alex Lopez earned back-to-back honors in 2020 and 2021. Saylon posted a league-high three shutouts in conference play alongside 22 saves.
Pusback becomes the second Blazer to earn Freshman of the Year honors, following Mathis Richter in 2024. The defender started all eight conference matches for UAB, averaging 85 minutes per contest.
Missouri State head coach Michael Seabolt and his staff, alongside Tulsa head coach Tom McIntosh and his staff, were named Coaching Staffs of the Year. The Bears earned a share of the regular-season title with a 12-1-3 overall record (5-1-2 American). The Golden Hurricane claimed the top seed in the upcoming American Conference Men's Soccer Championship, finishing 8-4-4 overall (5-1-2 American).
Missouri State also earned the Team Fair Play Award for the second consecutive season after recording the fewest fouls, yellow cards, and red cards in conference play.
Charlotte and Missouri State led all programs with three First-Team All-Conference selections each, followed by Tulsa with two. UAB, FIU, and South Florida placed one player each on the first team. Four players were unanimous first-team selections: Charlotte midfielder Natsuki Ogata, Missouri State forward Diego Real, Missouri State defender Harris O'Connor, and Tulsa midfielder Luc Achermann-Stanfield.
