IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s basketball honors for the 16^th week of the regular season.
 
Player of the Week
Chance Westry, So., G, UAB
Westry helped lead the Blazers to wins over Temple and Memphis by averaging 23.5 points, 7.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals. Against Temple on the road, the sophomore guard had 24 points and eight assists, while against the Tigers in Memphis, Westry posted 23 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds.
 
Freshman of the Week
Josiah Parker, F, Florida Atlantic
Parker averaged 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in two games for the Owls last week, including a big double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds in a win over UTSA on February 18
 
Honorable Mention
Dezayne Mingo, Sr., G, Charlotte
Nearly averaged a double-double with 14.5 points, 9.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two games for the 49ers.
 
Izaiyah Nelson, Sr., F, South Florida
Recorded 17 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in the Bulls’ win over Memphis on Thursday.
 
Asher Woods, Sr., G, Tulane
In Green Wave wins over North Texas and Rice, he averaged 20.0 points and 3.0 rebounds.
 
Ade Popoola, Jr., G, Tulsa
Averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals in wins over Charlotte and Rice.
 
Kenyon Giles, Sr., G, Wichita State
Aided the Shockers to wins over East Carolina and Temple by averaging 25.5 points and 5.0 rebounds.
