IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 8.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Megan Nestor, Sr., F, North Texas
Nestor scored 20 points and collected 13 rebounds in the come-from behind win over Temple. The senior scored all 13 points in the final quarter for the Mean Green, hitting the game-tying and go-ahead baskets in the final minutes.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Adriana Robles, Fr., G, UTSA
Robles averaged 5.5 points, three rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game. She scored seven points and collected four rebounds in the road win at Tulsa.
HONORABLE MENTION
Asianae Nicholson, Sr., F, Charlotte
Nicholson recorded a pair of double-doubles, averaging 12 points and 15 rebounds in wins over Wichita State and Tulane.
Jayla Hearp, R-Jr., G, East Carolina
Hearp scored a season-high 18 points, while adding five rebounds and three assists in the 64-62 win over South Florida.
Erin Rodgers, So., G, Florida Atlantic
Rodgers tallied a career-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead the Owls pas UAB, 68-63.
Dominique Ennis, Sr., G, Rice
Ennis led the Owls to a win over Memphis, scoring 22 points, including six made three-pointers.
Carla Brito, Sr., F, South Florida
Brito averaged 12 points, 15.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in games against East Carolina and Tulane.
