BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — No. 6 UTSA defeated No. 7 Temple 59–51 in the second round of the 2026 American Women’s Basketball Championship on Wednesday evening at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.
With the win, the Roadrunners (15–15) advance to face No. 3 South Florida in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 12, at 3 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
After taking a 25–21 lead in the second quarter, the Roadrunners ended the half on a 6:18 scoring drought, allowing Temple to take a one-point lead into halftime. UTSA responded strongly out of the break, outscoring the Owls 21–9 in the third quarter while holding Temple to just 14.3 percent shooting from the field in the period.
Temple forced UTSA into 23 turnovers but converted those into only 15 points, while the Roadrunners scored 12 points off 12 Owl turnovers.
Ereauna Hardaway led UTSA with 17 points, while Cheyenne Rowe added 13. Idara Udo recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
