UTSA To Play UConn in NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship

IRVING, Texas - After winning its first American Conference women’s basketball tournament championship, UTSA earned the No. 16 seed in the Fort Worth 1 Region in the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, announced on the NCAA selection show on Sunday. The Roadrunners will take on No. 1 seed UConn on March 21 in Storrs, Connecticut. Tip time is still to be determined.
 
UTSA (18-15) won the American Championship title game against Rice, earning the automatic bid for the league. The Roadrunners won four games in four days and allowed just 46.7 points per game in the conference tournament.
 
The Roadrunners return to the NCAA Tournament for the 3rd time in program history, first time as a member of The American, and the first time since 2009. UTSA will look for their first win in the NCAA Tournament.
