IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly women’s lacrosse honors:
Attack Player of the Week
Payton Root, So., James Madison
Root totaled 11 points in a pair of wins over No. 19 Virginia and Temple, including a nine-point game with two goals and seven assists against Temple.
Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Rongo, Sr., Def., James Madison
Rongo had five ground balls and six caused turnovers in wins over Virginia and Temple.
Freshman of the Week
Gabby Putman, M, Vanderbilt
Putman had a school-record 16 draw controls, with three goals and one caused turnover in a win over Charlotte.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Abigail Beattie, So., James Madison
Beattie made 14 saves in wins over Virginia and Temple.
Midfielder of the Week
Kali Cleary, So., South Florida
Cleary scored three goals, with two ground balls and six draw controls in a victory at Old Dominion.
HONORABLE MENTION
Maggie Newton, R-Sr., South Florida
Newton scored three goals, with three assists, two ground balls, and draw control in win over Old Dominion.
Brooke Mazzei, Fr., M, Temple
Mazzei scored one goal with three draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls vs. James Madison.
Kaitlyn Stankavage, Sr., M, Temple
Stankavage had two ground balls with a career-high four caused turnovers and one draw control vs. James Madison.
