IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Saturday, March 7.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kennedy Fauntleroy, Sr., G, East Carolina
Fauntleroy was a stat-sheet stuffer in Saturday’s season finale win at Tulsa, scoring 17 points, while dishing out eight assists. She also came down with four rebounds and recorded two steals.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Mecailin Marshall, G, Tulane
Marshall recorded an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double in the season finale against South Florida. It was a career-high in rebounds and her second career double-double.
HONORABLE MENTION
Princess Anderson, Sr., G, Charlotte
Anderson recorded a pair of 20-point performances, including 21 points and the game-winning shot in the game against UAB.
Tamya Smith, So., F, Memphis
Smith averaged 19 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games. She had a career-high 11 rebounds in the game against UAB.
Megan Nestor, Sr., F, North Texas
Nestor set the American single-season rebound record with a 19-rebound performance in the season finale.
Aniah Alexis, So., G, Rice
Alexis averaged 12.5 points and four rebounds in two games for the Owls. In the win at Charlotte she finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
L’or Mputu, Gr., F, South Florida
Mputu led the Bulls to a pair of wins, averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds against Temple and Tulane.
