IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly baseball honors for the fifth week of the regular season.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chayse Oxborrow, Jr., LHP, Charlotte
Oxborrow was dominant in a win over No. 11 Virginia, throwing six shutout innings, allowing only one hit and one walk with 12 strikeouts in a 14-0 win over the Cavaliers.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Paul Head, So., OF, UAB
Head went 10-for-17 (.588) for the week, with six home runs, three doubles, 10 runs scored, 10 RBI, three walks, a stolen base and 31 total bases in a 3-1 week for the Blazers. He had a pair of three-home run games against Middle Tennessee, with three 3-hit games and multiple runs scores in the weekend series vs. MTSU.
HONORABLE MENTION
Dawson Bryce, Jr., INF, Charlotte
Hit .500 (11-for-22) with six runs scored, four doubles, eight RBIs with four multi-hit games.
Gavin Van Kempen, Sr., RHP, East Carolina
Threw 7.0 innings, allowing just three hits, one run, three walks and 11 strikeouts vs. Coastal Carolina.
Garrett Grant, Fr., RHP, Florida Atlantic
Pitched seven shutout innings, allowing five hits, walking one, and striking out five in a win over FIU.
Conor Myles, Gr., LHP, UTSA
Pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings, yielding two hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in a win over New Mexico State.
Max Kaufer, Sr., C, Wichita State
Batted .636 (7-for-11) with five home runs, 12 RBI, and eight runs scored in four games for the Shockers.
