Florida Atlantic's Collier, Rice's Thames Earn Weekly Baseball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced this week’s baseball honors. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ty Thames, Fr., RHP, Rice

Thames made two appearances for Rice on the road at Charlotte, allowing no runs on one hit over four innings to earn two saves. Thames threw the final three innings and surrendered a lone hit while striking out three in a 6-2 win to open the series before throwing a scoreless final inning the following day in a 3-2 victory.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ian Collier, Grad, C, Florida Atlantic

Collier batted .538 with a .625 on-base percentage and a 1.308 slugging percentage for Florida Atlantic in a three-game set at Memphis, clubbing three home runs and adding six RBI and six runs for the Owls. Collier drove in two runs and scored three times in a game one win, added a solo home run to help claim the series in game two and ripped three hits that included a pair of home runs in the series finale.

HONORABLE MENTION
Tyler Harrington, Grad, INF, Memphis
Harrington batted .556 with one home run, six RBI and two runs scored in a series against Florida Atlantic, logging two RBI in each game.

Paul Smith, Sr., DH, Rice
Smith closed the week with a .429 average after belting two home runs and driving in seven runs during a 4-0 Rice week, accounting for two RBI each in three of four matchups.

Trey Cehajic, Grad, RHP, Tulane
Cehajic earned the win in the opening game of a weekend series with East Carolina, tossing 5.1 innings of four-hit baseball while allowing one run, two walks and striking out two in a 4-1 victory.

Jason Wachs, So., OF, Tulane
Wachs posted a .545 batting average with three doubles, four RBI and four runs scored in a 2-2 week for Tulane.

Connor Kelley, Jr, RHP, UTSA
Kelley notched a 1-0 record and a spotless ERA in two appearances last week for UTSA, scattering three hits over 6.1 innings of work in team victories against Tarleton State and South Florida.
