IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced this week’s baseball honors.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Joseph Webb, Sr., RHP, East Carolina
Webb was virtually unhittable in two relief appearances last week against South Florida, posting a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. Webb surrendered only one hit and two walks over 7.2 innings pitched for East Carolina, striking out 13 USF batters while limiting the Bulls to a .042 batting average against.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jack Herring, Sr., OF, East Carolina
Herring batted .600 with a home run, 11 RBI and nine runs scored in four wins against Old Dominion and South Florida, driving in three runs and scoring three times against ODU before adding seven RBI and five runs in the final two games of a sweep of USF.
HONORABLE MENTION
Landon Beaver, So., UTL, UAB
Beaver batted .529 with three doubles, two RBI and five runs in a 3-1 UAB week, ripping two hits and scoring a run in an 11-2 win over No. 13 Alabama.
James Litman, So., RHP, Florida Atlantic
Litman was the winning pitcher in a 3-1 win against Charlotte after throwing 7.0 innings of one-run baseball, allowing five hits while striking out five batters.
Ty Thames, Fr., RHP, Rice
Thames pitched the final 4.0 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with four strikeouts to pick up the save in a 3-2 victory at Wichita State.
Conor Myles, Grad, LHP, UTSA
Myles earned the win in an 8-2 series clincher at Tulane, spinning 6.0 shutout innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
Matthew Cuccias, Jr., RHP, Wichita State
Cuccias threw 7.1 innings of five-hit baseball, striking out seven Rice batters in a 5-1 victory to open the weekend series.
