Charlotte's Stanton, UAB's Beaver Earn Weekly Baseball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced this week’s baseball honors.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Adam Stanton, Sr., RHP, Charlotte
Stanton threw 6.1 innings of shutout relief in the season finale against Memphis on May 16, surrendering just three hits and one walk while striking out five batters. Charlotte rallied from a 7-5 deficit with Stanton on the mound to walk-off the Tigers 8-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning to qualify for the American Baseball Championship.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Landon Beaver, So., UTL, UAB
Beaver batted .444 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs during a series win against American tournament top seed UTSA to close the regular season. Beaver homered in the first two games of the series before scoring four runs in the 23-11 UAB win in the finale on May 16.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
 
Ethan Norby, Jr., LHP, East Carolina
Norby shined in his final start of the regular season, allowing one run on four hits in 6.1 innings, walking one and striking out 10 Florida Atlantic batters in a 6-1 ECU victory on May 15.
 
Alec DeMartino, Sr., OF, Charlotte
DeMartino hit at a .467 clip with two home runs, seven RBI and six runs in a 3-1 week that included a series win over Memphis to reach the conference tournament.
 
Will Howell, R-So., RHP, Memphis
Howell spun six shutout innings of two-hit baseball with four strikeouts in an eventual 9-4 win at Charlotte on May 14.
 
Tanner Wiggins, Jr., RHP, Rice
Wiggins went the distance in a 12-0 run-rule win in seven innings against Tulane on May 14, allowing three hits and two walks in the victory.
 
Diego Diaz, Jr., INF, UTSA
Diaz finished a 2-2 week with a .400 batting average, four home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored, driving in six runs and scoring three times in the 19-9 UTSA win against UAB on May 15.
