Charlotte, East Carolina and Rice Athletes Earn Weekly Baseball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced this week’s baseball honors.

PITCHERS OF THE WEEK
Ryan Combs, Sr., RHP, Charlotte
Combs allowed three hits and yielded one walk over seven full innings, striking out nine batters on 109 pitches in a 10-0 complete game shutout in seven innings over Tulane on May 1.

Ryan Towers, R-Jr., LHP, East Carolina
Towers surrendered three hits over seven innings pitched, walking one while striking out 10 batters to claim a piece of a combined shutout in a 12-0 victory in eight innings at Memphis on May 1.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JC Davis, Jr., 2B, Rice
Davis batted .600 with three doubles, 11 RBI, two stolen bases and six runs in a 4-0 week for Rice, logging three multi-hit games and three-multi RBI outings that included five RBI and three runs scored in the series finale against UAB.

HONORABLE MENTION

Brett Patten, Jr., OF, Florida Atlantic
Patten batted .500 with three RBI and four runs scored during a 2-1 week at Florida Gulf Coast and Charlotte.

David Case, Grad, LHP, Memphis
Case allowed one earned run on five hits over six innings, striking out six East Carolina batters in a 5-3 win on May 2.

Ryland Urbanczyk, Sr., RHP, Rice
Urbanczyk held UAB to two hits over six full innings, allowing an earned run with two walks and four strikeouts in a 10-3 victory on May 3.

Jordan Ballin, So., INF, UTSA
Ballin batted .500 with seven RBI and seven runs scored during a 4-0 week, scoring four runs against UIW on April 28 and driving in three runs against Wichita State on May 2.

Conor Myles, Grad, LHP, UTSA
Myles allowed one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out eight in an 8-1 win over Wichita State on May 2 to kick off a series sweep.
